Rita Kramer
Author of Flames in the Field: The Story of Four SOE Agents in Occupied France

Rita Kramer capped a career as a journalist and author of several books when her travels led her to the Natzweiler Concentration Camp and the mystery surrounding four young women who had been killed there. She undertook to tell their story and after several years of research in France and England the result was Flames in the Field: The Story of Four SOE Agents in Occupied France, followed by a novel, When Morning Comes,about the dark and dangerous era of wartime resistance. Ms. Kramer has written for the New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Partisan Review, and many other publications in the U.S. and abroad. Her short fiction has appeared in Story Quarterly and other literary reviews. She is a frequent contributor to The Journal of Military History.
